The Boston area continues to be busy for our members. There are plenty of ongoing significant projects such as high-rises, casinos, airport upgrades and commercial-industrial work.

We currently need Massachusetts-licenced electricians with street lighting and bucket truck experience. We expect the Boston area to continue its activity level well beyond 2019.

Other locals and their contractors expect a manpower shortage in the spring. Many new projects are being awarded now.

All Massachusetts locals are interested in receiving your applications. Even if we can’t put you to work right away, we keep them on file, so we can reach you when our employers need people with your skills and experience.

Throughout New England, line construction and tree trimmers are in extremely high demand. There is a large amount of line repair/upgrading and substation work needed to accommodate storm damage and growing loads. There is also future (expected) transmission line carrying hydro power into New England from Canada.

Tree trimmers with Class “A” Commercial Driver’s Licenses are in especially high demand.

Journeyman Electrician total wage and benefit packages range from the mid-$60s to just under $90/hour.

Members have the protection of employer-paid healthcare plans. Commercial workers and their families have the security of three pension plans, while line workers and their families have the security of a defined contribution pension plan.
